I’m Gabriela Casella-Nicosia and I live in Brooklyn, NY with my husband, 2 teenagers and our dog Sadie Sootsprite. Uruguayan-American, both my parents immigrated to NY in the late 60s. My whole life has been about creativity and I learned to sew on a machine at age 8 from a community of Women. This was very empowering for me. It gave me a great sense of accomplishment and every skill I learned felt inspiring. This inspiration has stayed with me. My experience working in Fashion, Clothing Production, and Design has given me the tools to pass this inspiration on to the children I teach.

For over ten years, Crafty Gabby has been teaching after school sewing classes for children ages 7 and up. For may years, Gabby hosted an adult sewing group called Lady Sew & Sew, where women came in with sewing projects that she taught and guided them through the process. She has also taught in NYC independent schools, and for many years at Brooklyn General. Gabby offers private sewing instruction as well as semi private.
